From the series: GETTING MYSELF A THICKER SKIN object #3 Anita Steinwidder, 2023 Mixed media: Fragmented parts of historical dolls; pink colored crochet yarn; acrylic glue; used linen; glazed and framed in a rose colored wooden object frame; Anita Steinwidder processes her own personal experiences and makes assault, degradation, self-doubt, and dispute visible in the form of three-dimensional miniatures consisting of fragmented body parts, dislocated limbs, and shattered or reassembled faces. All equipped with Steinwidders ”thicker skin” - a layer of very fine crocheted fabric partly covering, repairing or “healing” the body parts. As shown in her previous works, Steinwidder allows parts of male and female characteristics, points of view, techniques and aesthetics to converge. This textile intervention makes all its aspects of dismembered, naked and stump-l ike body parts feel soft and feminine with an air of something seemingly comforting and forgiving.

Returns and refunds

However, if the return is due to a fault in the artwork or other artist-related reasons, the artist will cover the return shipping cost. ANITA STEINWIDDER Visual Artist | mixed media objects Lives and works in Vienna, Austria | Born 1973 in Judenburg, Austria Holding a degree in architecture, Anita Steinwidder established her internationally acclaimed fashion label STEINWIDDER in 2002, focussed on the conceptual refashioning of textile waste and second-hand clothes for 15 years. Since 2014 Anita Steinwidder works as a textile artist and creates three-dimensional mixed media artworks and textile interventions on found objects, that show the continuation of her artistic language. Her inspiration comes from her intense involvement with the finds, which are relating to her rural origin, as well as other items that correspond to her very unique meaning of something being “valuable”.
